Colette lives between the Smoky Mountains, New England, and her native Laguna Beach, CA. She captures the essence of the forest with ethereal light breaking through the trees. Her style adds a dimension to nature paintings; rare among artists and deeply cherished by her patrons and gallery guests alike.
Drama, mood, and atmosphere take center stage in her landscape oil paintings. Skies are the source of light and are an important component of her works—either as the primary subject or an indirect player in setting the emotional and visual tone for the subject. Whether the subject is a river, stream, or light rays through the trees, her paintings are an expression of the breathtaking beauty found only in Mother Nature.
She studied at the Laguna Beach College of Art and has been greatly influenced from her mentor and oil painting Master, Richard Schmid. Being recently from the hurricane Helene zone, she gives liberally to the community.
"Nature has a way of balancing me and keeping my perspective in check. When I come upon ephemeral moments; light, air, blowing leaves, crashing waves, my world is transformed. It is these fleeting and fragile interludes I wish to pass on to someone else."
